Depending on your needs, individual counselling sessions often begin with weekly sessions, then progress to fortnightly sessions or until needed.

FAQ's

Partners can have individual counselling even if they are in a relationship, or even if they are at crossroads within their relationship.

Individual therapy is possible for you if your partner isn’t able to join, or if they want to join another session or if you’re the only one who wants to do therapy.  We can delve into what you would like to strengthen in the relationship with your partner and clarify what you would like out of the relationship.   You can learn new ways to communicate with your partner and learn how to change the way your respond in moments of conflict.  You will also learn about what makes a happy and sustainable relationship and then be able to apply that knowledge to your relationship.

Each partner can gain from their Individual therapy session in between their Couples sessions for two reasons.

Firstly, it allows each partner to express themselves in a different way knowing their partner is not in the session. Sometimes it may help a partner to talk about something they’ve been withholding for fear of what their partner might say or what it could stir up – this may be the very reason they are seeking counselling. 

Secondly, we explore how you ‘show up’ in your relationship, your personal history, your own part in the relationship and how these areas impacts the connection with your partner. I also delve into what they hope for as an individual and as a partner within their relationship.
